TALKS BY SWAMI SARADANANDA

Yoga Philosophy talks and satsangs

Mantras and Japa

Sat, 25 Jan, 2-4pm

The first of my philosophy talks of the year will look at 'mantras', specific sound vibrations that can provide you with powerful auditory assistance in sharpening and expanding your meditation. There is much misunderstanding regarding mantras and japa (mantra repetition); they are quite different from affirmations, practice intentions and prayers.

If you are interested in taking your meditation to the next level, join me for this afternoon talk in my private studio near Earls Court. Click here if you are interested in attending. This talk can also be a preparation if you or any of your students are interested in taking mantra initiation on Sivaratri (see below).

Sivaratri satsang

Fri, 21 Feb, 7-9pm

The new-moon night of Sivaratri (night of Siva) is one of the most significant festivals of India. Siva is credited with being the original teacher of yoga and the planetary positions on the night produce a powerful natural upsurge of energy. Chanting the Siva mantra and hearing stories about Siva can have extremely beneficial effects on your physical and spiritual wellbeing - and on your yoga practice.
.
If you or any of your students are interested in taking mantra initiation (advance booking requested), this will take place after the satsang. The programme is at my private studio near Earls Court. Click here if you are interested in attending.

Indian Mythology and modern yoga practice

Sat, 21 March, 2-4pm

This will be an afternoon of story-telling and analysis, focusing on some of the core myths of yoga. Each of these stories has a number of levels of meaning; understanding the inner significance behind the stories can assist you in taking your practice to a deeper level.
I particularly enjoy giving this talk. Join me in my private studio near Earls Court. Click here if you are interested in attending.

If you run a yoga centre or studio - or are part of a group who is interested in philosophy classes, please feel free to contact  me to organise a programme to suit your needs.

Each of the above topics can be expanded to be the subject of a half or full-day programme. I am also happy to create a talk, weekend or on-going programme that will address your group's specific interests and needs. Whatever format you choose, group participation will be encouraged and facilitated. Time will be allowed for questions and discussion in each session.

When you approach the teachings of yoga in the spirit of right inquiry (vichara), at the right time, you make it possible for a deep and long-lasting change to take place within your being. Yoga is based on direct, personal and living experience.
